Employees (Teaching and Non-Teaching faculty)

  • A strict code of conduct is mandatory for all employees.
  • All the employees are required to maintain regularity, punctuality and personal and general discipline in the campus.
  • Teaching faculty must maintain academic integrity and transparency.
  • All employees are expected to be committed in their duties and contribute towards the progress and quality of the institution.
  • All employees have to apply for leave as per norms with the prior permission of the Principal. For long leave, permission of the Secretary/Correspondent is required.
  • All employees must in form the Principal before leaving the headquarters even during vacation.
  • Employees are not expected to indulge in business, trade or politics or any other employment or work.
  • ‘OnDuty’ assignments are to be taken upon the production of proof from the authorities
  • The services of an unaided employee can be terminated on grounds of fraud, involvement in crime, negligence of duties, unsatisfactory discharge of duties, while memo for explanation can be issued to an employee with aid and later referred to the higher authorities for necessary action.
  • All employees are required to undertake any additional duties after college hours.
  • All employees shall follow the college code of conduct and not take up any violence, indiscrimination, politics and threaten the academic ambiance and peace and harmony in the institution, be it among students, staff or other stakeholders.
  • Disciplinary action shall be initiated against those who violate the norms of discipline and the smooth functioning of the institution.

 

For individual faculty members:

  • Faculty to lead by example.
  • Faculty need to be punctual to the college.The reporting time for faculty is 8:50 A.M and the sign out time is 4:00 P.M.
  • Faculty need to be in the class before the commencement of the prayer, and to be on time to the remaining classes as well.
  • Faculty need to stand and teach.
  • Faculty are expected to teach only in English except for second languages.
  • Faculty should strictly follow the timetable and not to miss any class.
  • Junior faculty need to consult the senior members of the department for guidance including academics.
  • Faculty need to dress modestly. Dress code has to be followed for all college functions: Fete/National functions, sports day, annual day, etc.
  • Faculty need to wear ID cards on campus.
  • Everyone need to converse in English at all times on the campus.
  • Greeting one another must be practiced on the campus.
  • Faculty need to cultivate a sense of belonging and solidarity with the college.
  • Whenever a common program is being organized either in auditorium, A.V room or other places, the faculty in charge of that class has to accompany the students and help maintain discipline.
  • All the faculty members who do not have class need to be present for all the activities of the college during college timings.
  • There shall be a single movement register for all the faculty kept in the Degree Vice-Principal’s Office. While going out during the college hours, faculty need to inform the HoD, respective Vice-Principal and must sign in the movement register.
  • One hour permission only need to be written in the movement register, mentioning the out time and in time. More than 1 hour, Principal’s permission is required.
  • Faculty going out during college time (9 am to 4 pm – including lunch time) have to record the details in the gate register provided at the gate.
  • Faculty to avoid criticising about their colleagues. Need to maintain decorum in all times, undue criticism is to be avoided.
  • Communication with your colleagues should be respectful and polite.
  • No special classes are to be conducted without the prior permission of the Principal.
  • Classes need to be adjusted when invigilations are marked. (both for Inter & Degree- composite faculty)
  • Intermediate faculty have to get the question papers duly signed by the HOD and submit the same to the Inter Vice- Principal.
  • To use the mobile sparingly during college hours, personal phone calls to be attended outside the department.
  • Faculty carrying mobiles to the classrooms and labs should use them only for academic purpose.
  • Avoid talking too loud in the departments.
  • Things discussed in the department are not to be shared with the students or faculty of other departments.
  • Faculty need to get prior permission from the Principal to attend any Seminars/Workshops/Conferences/Training Programs/FDPs, etc.
  • Faculty need to submit a copy of the appointment order    to the office for external academic related matters and relieving order to be collected from the office one day prior upon the permission from the Principal.
  • Announcements are to be made only at 12.35 pm and 3.00 pm.
  • Do not send students for announcements.
  • Announcements are to be scrutinized by Dr. Sr. Ramana, Dean, Planning & Communication.
  • A register for announcements is maintained in the visitor’s room. All the announcements are to be recorded in the register.
  • Visting time for the parents is from 3.00 to 4.00 pm only except in case of emergency.
  • Morning prayer over the PAS has to have a short reflection followed by the Lord’s Prayer. Every Monday, College Anthem and Friday the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi will be played. Every Saturday, students  are given an opportunity to conduct the  morning prayer. Mentors need to prepare the students for the prayer.
  • Any intended activity related to curriculum or academics, should be planned and conducted in consultation with the HoD.

For HoDs:

  • HODs to be in control of the department and responsible for the smooth conduct of classes and activities. Have an evaluation after the completion of every activity conducted in the department. All the members of the department need to cooperate and work together to get the best possible result of the given task.
  • The HoDs need to give information (of the minutes of the meetings with the Principal/higher authorities) to the department members.
  • Prior planning need to be done to organize any Seminars/Workshops/Conferences/Training Programs, etc.
  • Department/Cell/Committee members need to update the College Activity register immediately after the completion of an activity.
  • The members of the Staff Council are to be present if they do not have a class for all the activities organised by various departments/cells/committees etc.
  • Course wise rotation: A faculty can teach a particular course for a duration of 3 years only. Senior faculty to handle first year degree classes. A faculty cannot take two courses for the same class. Avoid splitting of the course.

Leave Rules:

  • Faculty need to give proper reason for taking leave.
  • To apply for leave, prior permission need to be taken from the Principal.
  • In circumstances not foreseen, leave shall be taken by informing Principal on phone. In such cases the leave letter is to be submitted to the Principal within 24 hours.
  • Leave letters are to be submitted on time.
  • Use the printed causal leave form available with the Office Superintendent.
  • Leave letter is to be submitted to the Principal in person duly signed by the HoD and the same need to be submitted in the office. Work need to be adjusted and the same is to be submitted to the HOD and to the respective Vice-Principal.
  • A faculty could avail one causal leave per month.
  • In case of casual leave or on duty, address to the Principal and other types of leave (medical leave, long leave etc.) to the Correspondent through the Principal.
  • Three late comings are treated as equivalent to one day of casual leave.
  • Abide by the leave rules of the institution. Ensure that any teaching hour lost due to leave or any other exigency is compensated by filling in the leave hours, if any, of other faculty members of the same class.

With regard to student discipline:

  • Few faculty are marked for monitoring the students coming late to the college. Everyday two faculty (one for degree and one for Inter) along with PD will be present near the gate at 9.10 am to record the names of the later comers.
  • Students coming to the college after 9.10 am have to write their names in the late register (for Degree and Inter separately) near the gate.
  • Students coming after 9.00 am, 10.55 am and 1.20 pm to the class have to stand outside the class.
  • PD shall monitor the campus discipline.
  • It is the responsibility of every faculty to enquire students on the campus during class hours.
  • Attendance shall be taken in the library during library periods.

Mentoring:

  • Mentors shall meet their mentees once a week in the assigned period.
  • Mentors to monitor the students’ attendance once a month and a follow up need to be done to ensure the mentee has sufficient attendance to appear for the exams.
  • Students taking leave for more than three days need to submit a leave letter to the Vice-Principal’s office.
  • Remind the students every week to clear their college fees.
  • Follow up the mentees with respect to their academic performance and SEE result (backlogs).
  • Read and explain the code of conduct to all the mentees from the college handbook.
  • Instruct students to be in uniform (even on their birthdays) except on Saturday.
